Institut IGH
Civil Engineering Institute of Croatia covers, through its regional units and field laboratories, the entire territory of the Republic of Croatia. It has over 1000 full-time employees, out of which more than fifty percent are professionals with PhD, master's and bachelor's degrees in civil engineering and other related disciplines. The Institute performs its research and professional activities through nine departments and three regional units.
The fields of activity cover amongst others:
- Research & development activities in the following scientific disciplines of civil engineering: geotechnics, construction materials, water engineering, load-bearing structures, construction management, transportation and structural mechanics,
- Testing and issuing test certificates for materials, structural assemblies, structures, support systems, soil, testing devices and production procedures,
- Work on improvement of the general, technical and autonomous regulations in the field of civil engineering and in other fields where knowledge of civil engineering is required; development and coordination relating to implementation of international regulations in the field of civil engineering,
- Improvement of development programs and construction technologies, preparation of studies on the environmental impact of structures, with a particular emphasis on the protection, preservation and improvement of the human environment,
- Inspection of technical documents with respect to stability, safety, functionality, physical properties and cost-effectiveness,
- Consultancy services for the construction industry
- Inspectionand assessment of companies performing activities that influence safety, quality and functionality of civil engineering structures,
