The focus of SINTEF Building and Infrastructure is on research in the building and construction sector in close cooperation with the industry. The research groups work with large research programmes, but also with the small enterprises in the building industry, for more innovation and increased productivity, but also for something that will benefit society in general: A built environment of better quality.

SINTEF Building and Infrastructure’s many areas of expertise make them a complete research institute serving the building, construction and housing sectors.

The laboratories and testing facilities are central to the activities both in R&D and certification/approval (appointed Notified Body for several product areas).

Sharing knowledge is important to SINTEF Building and Infrastructure by developing and publishing knowledge products and research documents. The most important being the Building Research Design Sheets.
